Clare, a feisty, attractive young woman, meets her future husband Tony, who is a handsome test pilot, at a dreary party and after a whirlwind romance she marries him. They fly off in a private jet to Paris where they enjoy a fantasy honeymoon. After returning to a normal hum drum life, their marriage soon goes wrong. Tony is away on test flying most of the time and soon starts affairs with various young women who cannot resist his charms. Clare discovers her husband’s infidelity and in the midst of this trauma, Eric arrives and attempts to guide Clare to a happier future. She is captivated by this tall, handsome stranger and finds it hard to accept that he is her guardian angel as she does not believe in ghosts or the paranormal. Eric tries to convince her that he is an angel and warns her that on no account must she fall in love with him, which is not what a romantic young woman, starved of love, wishes to hear. Her life is further complicated when she meets Jeff, the newly appointed manager where she works, and he makes unwanted advances to her which she rejects. Clare and her best friend Jane, who is also experiencing a less than an adult relationship with her silly boyfriend, go off on holiday to the South of France to escape their unhappy situations for a week. They encounter more than they bargain for when they are introduced by an attractive female artist to Michel, an up market art dealer, who invites them to stay with him at his villa in Monte Carlo. After various romantic adventures with Michel and his friends, Eric is there to guide them and they return home to a more settled existence. It soon becomes obvious to Clare that Eric has guided her to the life long happiness she is searching for with the man of her dreams whom she had previously overlooked.

Divorcee is confusing and difficult. This book relives the bitter-sweet rail road of emotions. From confusion to more confusion, luck and despair. A lovely light hearted novel, becoming very funny when Clare and Jane hit FRance and mix with money, a transvestite and the 'wrong sort of men.' Eric the guardian angel is there to guide Clare if only she will listen. Back home Clare listens to Eric and finally gives men a chance and so finds love with the office 'knicker sniffer.' Full of fun, food, spirituality and a happy ending. Lovely.

I really enjoyed this second 'Eric' book and hope the author writes another in this series. Easy to read and a good story. It is easy to understand how a girl could get into this situation and a real surprise to find a male author that understands female thoughts and feelings and portrays them clearly. Peter Child commenced his writing career in 1969 when he contributed 60 ‘one line’ comedy gags each week for an American Radio show called ‘FUNNYBIRDS’, which starred Goldie Hawn and Phyllis Diller. Then after meeting Terry Nation, the creator of ‘DR. WHO’, he was introduced to Alastair Scott-Johnson, the BBC Producer responsible for such classics as ‘THE NAVY LARK’ and ‘HANCOCK’S HALF HOUR.’ As a result of this, the BBC commissioned a Radio comedy pilot, which Peter co-wrote, called ‘THE MOTORWAY MEN’, starring Milo O’Shea, Jimmy Beck and Bill Pertwee. Then followed a series of 8 more episodes of ‘THE MOTORWAY MEN’ which had a listening audience of over 5 million at the time. He also contributed to the comedy sketch shows, ‘DON’T ASK US’ and ‘I’M SORRY I’LL READ THAT AGAIN’.

Then he turned to writing books and produced three technical books on the subject of Automotive Paint Finishes whilst he was the Quality Control Manager and Chief Test Driver at Aston Martin Lagonda Ltd. The books were sold world wide and are used in many technical colleges, universities as well as major motor manufacturers such as Jaguar Cars Ltd for training. He then wrote ‘NOTES FOR GOOD DRIVERS’ and ‘NOTES FOR COMPANY DRIVERS’ for drivers of all ages and abilities in the hope that these books would make a contribution to road safety. He used his training as a private pilot, he has a multi engine rating, to carry forward his ideas of ‘safety style’ driving, which he believes has enabled him to drive more than 3 million miles in the UK , Europe and the USA without accident.

Now a full time author he has written 12 books, 5 technical and 7 novels, including the Michel Ronay trilogy, which are amusing stories about a French taxi driver in Marseille, which have been well received. His latest novel, ‘ERIC THE ROMANTIC’ is being considered by major film studios. He is currently writing another Michel Ronay novel and more titles will follow this year. Alongside the above range of books a fantastic detective series set in the Victorian period has been published.
