The Devil's Creature in the City of the Dead by R. H. Stewart
A gory, gruesome horror for lovers of Gothic nightmares.
Mhairi is a fourteen year old witch whose home is Glasgow’s Necropolis.
With Jet, her black cat, and Dougie, she battles a vicious vampire.
In the Necropolis, Glasgow’s Victorian cemetery, are Ghuls and Ghosts.
Ghuls are the decomposing remains of humans who were evil in life and have chosen not to go to Hell: they continue to enjoy inflicting misery and pain. Their Master is Lord Antoninus, the brutal and merciless Ghul Lord. It is not hard to tell when a Ghul is near: the air reeks of the smell of putrid flesh.
Ghosts are those spirits of the dead who have chosen to stay on in the cemetery instead of carrying on to Heaven.
The full extent of Lord Antoninus' evil begins to be understood when he engineers the escape of "The Devils' Creature" from the lead casket within the coffin which has successfully encased it for so long.
Living under the largest mausoleum in the cemetery are the MacBeths, a family of Magicians and their Companion animals who are content with their low-profile lives. Mhairi, a fourteen year old witch, and her Companion, Jet – a black Siamese, are friends with Dougie, a human.
Together they become involved in solving the gruesome hideous murders that take place on the Necropolis.
