In 1926, Henry James Stuart travelled from Idaho to Fairhope, Alabama to begin the last part of his life as a hermit in his new property - 10 acres that he called Tolstoy Part. He had been diagnosed with tuberculosis and given a year to live: give or take. He gave away his shoes/boots to commune with the earth and prepared to die in the sunshine of Mobile Bay.
But things didn't go as planned!
